What would you do as a writing mentor?

I help you to build your writing voice, teach you about making healthy writing habits, help you set deadlines and stick to them if that’s what you want. Explain the process of writing, the stages of editing, book design and the art of great cover design.

I talk my clients through the publishing processes of traditional, or independent either exclusive or wide, and while sharing all this I explain why things are done in certain ways, supporting and encouraging so that my clients can create not just one book with me, but many books in the future using my expert knowledge.

Do you only work with first time authors?

No, I have had people on their second, third, and even fourth books as clients.

Do you help with marketing?

Yes, I can explain how to use social media effectively, how to set up an email list and why, help you create a fabulous website. Develop a marketing strategy that suits you, that you can stick to, and explain interview techniques and advise on public speaking. Many of my clients work on building their marketing alongside creating their book with my help, meaning they have a fanbase already waiting by their publication date.

Do you offer any other services?

I do offer a developmental editing service to help you with character and story development, and voice. This is charged at £35 per 1,000 words.

Why should people listen to you?

I worked in traditional publishing, working my way up to assistant to the head of marketing, and I have an imprint with ten published books of my own. I was also accepted as an approved supplier by The Alliance of Independent Authors in 2024

How do I know if we will be a good fit?

We book a mutually convenient time for a chargeable discovery call, during which we discuss where you are and where you’d like to be. I explain how I can help with your goals and how I work, and if we feel excited to work together then you would be accepted as one of the five clients I work with at any one time, and will be sent a mentoring agreement which sets out what we will do together, and you can book sessions with me.

What is the process for booking 1-2-1 mentoring sessions?

After your successful discovery call you can book sessions with me, these are invoiced when they are booked and must be paid for by the due date. If you don’t make the payment the session is cancelled. When the payment is made you get a TEAMS meeting link by email.

Can I book more than one session at a time?

Yes, you can book in blocks of five or ten.

What if I book then want to cancel?

All sessions once booked are non refundable, however if you need to change the date or time of your session and there are more than 48 hours until it’s start then we can agree a new session. Each booking can only be changed once.
