Desert Island Books
A Little Book Problems Desert Island Books feature is one of the most unusual interviews that I have done to date – and I loved it! Based on the very popular Radio 4 Desert Island discs programme, where guests chose eight tracks, a book and a luxury that they would take with them if marooned on a desert island. It’s something I have enjoyed listening to for many years so was really excited to take part.
Julie, our host introduces herself on her blog as “a book addict. Seriously, it is a severe and untreatable problem, hence the name of my blog. However, since it is not a vice that is dangerous in any way other than to my bank balance, I’m not too worried.
I am a compulsive book buyer and hoarder. I have books in my library dating back to my childhood that are over forty years old…reading is and always has been an integral part of my life and I take it seriously.
The blog has grown in popularity and ambition during that time. As well as book reviews, I now host interview features, frequent guest posts and sometimes post about non-book-related topics. In 2020, I was named as the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Media Star of the Year for this blog, which was a huge and unexpected honour.
Aside from reading, I love to travel and do it as often as possible. I have been to a lot of interesting places and have many, many more on my bucket list. The world is vast and fascinating and I’d like to see as much of it as time and money will allow”.
Luckily Julie was kind enough to let me have five books and a luxury item until rescue arrives on her literary tropical island (sadly she does not allow any kind of human or animal companion, or a rescue or escape device, so the partner and the dog will have to stay at home and wait for me).
