Inspired By…Anita Rasheva
Anita’s story like the majority of the people I am Inspired by is one of triumph over adversity, but one that started many miles away physically, as well as emotionally from where she is today. Like many other women Anita’s life was one thing in public, and another in private.
We begin her story in Bulgaria where she earnt her Master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing, going into a career as a Revenue Inspector for HMRC Bulgaria. Anita built a respected reputation within the industry, where she was known for her drive, a passion for numbers and her problem-solving abilities. But behind the scenes of this professional success, her personal life was one of domestic, financial, and emotional abuse. Despite her accomplishments, Anita told me that she had just felt trapped and powerless, stuck in a situation that went on for years.
After finally divorcing, the stress of these years caught up with her, and health issues began to surface resulting in her being diagnosed with epilepsy, and experiencing debilitating panic attacks. With her health and well-being reaching a breaking point, it became clear that rebuilding a life in Bulgaria was impossible.
So, she made the bold decision to move to the UK for a fresh start, determined to create a better life for herself and her young daughter, who Anita said “inspires me to be resilient, to stay focused, and to never settle for less than we deserve. My journey isn’t just about achieving professional success; it’s about showing her that with perseverance and belief in yourself, you can overcome any obstacle and create a life worth living”.
Starting over was anything but easy, all the qualifications she had worked so hard for, were not recognized in the UK, and while studying to requalify she had to work for a cleaning company to financially support her family.
Any single parent who has balanced motherhood, work, and studies will know this this was a serious challenge. Anita says “this time was one of the toughest challenges I’ve faced, but it strengthened my resolve… the values that have guided my personal journey—resilience, trust, and empowerment”.
Slowly but surely, she rebuilt her health, amazingly overcoming both epilepsy and panic attacks as she found peace in her new environment.
“Looking back, I see how far I’ve come—from a place of uncertainty and struggle to leading an award-winning firm that makes a real difference for its clients. My story is proof that no matter how daunting the challenges, success is possible with perseverance and a commitment to your goals. Anita hopes to make a meaningful difference for entrepreneurs who, like herself, are determined to turn their vision into reality.
